More about Terrazzo:

Terrazzo floors probably originated in North Africa around the late 1800's.

Today, they are indigenous to the Mediterranean and can be seen throughout the region, from Spain and Greece to Italy and France. Probably their greatest single virtue is their hardwearing nature. Handmade from a composition of marble, the pattern and colour run right through the tile to a depth of some 5mm.
